Massachusetts Protective Mothers for Custodial Justice , Inc. (“MPMCJ”) maintains a concentration of advocacy for protective mothers in custody litigation and simultaneous scrutiny of related court processes. Courts, processes, service providers and arms of law enforcement must address the crucial safety considerations of battered women and their children with an eye to the unbiased treatment of protective mothers. MPMCJ invites mothers and their reports from experience in courts and services statewide. Our organization promotes proper consideration of , and response to: child abuse, sexual abuse, and domestic violence as defined by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Safety***. Ascribing these serious abuses theories and practices that result in the punishment, further abuse and disenfranchisement of mothers and their children has created the necessity for MPMCJ’s formation. In discretionary tiered response, we advocate, raise awareness, provide support, research, reports, information, navigational assistance, and referrals to and for mothers litigating in family matters where risk to safety and well being of their children is present. While services for victims of domestic violence are thankfully in place across the Commonwealth, mothers in custody litigation report that the efficacy of these programs for them is lacking, or that programs fail completely to assist them. MPMCJ believes this results from capable performance prevented. We advance the efforts of those whose work acknowledges - and continues to bring attention to - the serious issue of battered protective mothers’ treatment in family courts. MPMCJ knows first hand that mothers exercising their rights are frequently retaliated against in system response, at the expense of child and mother safety. This is unacceptable. To assist in obtaining appropriate resources for their needs, MPMCJ emerges as an independent organization guided by the actual experiences of Massachusetts mothers in probate court litigation. Our ongoing effort is to effectively end institutional, programmatic, professional, public and private promotion of and complicity in domestic violence, sexual abuse, child abuse and bias against women.
